Vikram Desai established the Mumbai office for the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) in 2015, and is responsible for CPPIB’s India office - working across CPPIB’s global investment teams to originate and execute investments in India.
Vikram has been involved in originating, structuring and executing CPPIB’s India transactions (in excess of C$3.5 BN) including significant investments into Kotak Mahindra Bank, formation of real estate joint ventures with Shapoorji Pallonji and Ajay Piramal, FDI-investment into Larsen & Toubro IDPL and numerous co-investment opportunities alongside CPPIB’s General Partner (GP) relationships.
Vikram joined CPPIB from VSG Capital Advisors, CPPIB’s Senior Advisor for India.
Vikram’s twenty years of experience includes M&A at the CSFB Technology Group, private equity at FFL Partners and serving as Managing Member of the Sparta Group LLC, the private family investment office for the Founders of Infosys and Cascade Communications. At Sparta, Vikram invested a portfolio in excess of $500 million globally across asset classes delivering top decile results.
Vikram is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and resides with his wife in their native Mumbai.
