ICBC Annual Event: 2nd National Convention 4th February 2011
(Oberoi Hotel, New Delhi)
Greetings. Our upcoming Annual event of ICBC, National Convention will be held in New Delhi on 4th February 2011.
Theme for this convention is India Canada Business Corridor: Agenda for Action.
Given the theme we are very keen that this event takes the CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) into the next level which is negotiations, debating on the issues from both sides and then signing of the agreement. This would impact the business, trade and bi-lateral relations between the two countries. We hope this would quicken the pace of achieving the target set by both our prime ministers when they met at the G 20 summit in Toronto last year and hope that ICBC will play the role of a catalyst in achieving the target of 15 billion $ of trade & business in next 3 years.
We at this convention are also proposing to launch our two initiatives which are YEF (young entrepreneur’s forum) and ICBC awards to felicitate two companies or individuals for their outstanding contribution towards boosting India Canada Business, Trade or Bi-lateral relations.
We have been in touch Ministry of Commerce, GOI to invite the honorable minister along with Minister Gignac, Minister for Economic development, innovation and exports from Quebec and his Excellency High commissioner Mr. Stewart Beck to inaugurate our convention and have a presentation/discussion/debate on CEPA post recommendations going forward.
The third section of our convention is post lunch wherein we will break into three sectoral seminars on the following:
Energy: covering clean, renewable and green energy for sustainable development (Senior Government official from Government of India to be the key speakers)
Education: round table on skills development/harnessing HR talent for 2035. We will have panelists from national skills development corporation of India, Shastri Indo Canadian Institute, Canadian High Commission and
Quebec Delegation.
Investment opportunities India and Canada: Presentation on the financial and legal framework on investment opportunities both ways in India and in Canada.
We expect to print a document post our convention like a white paper on the discussion/debate over CEPA and on the sectoral seminars which would have an action plan detailed keeping in line with our theme.
I look forward to your support and cooperation.
Thank you
Warm regards
